About Rebekah Hannif-Ali
When it comes to the world of video games, Iím not the veteran gamer that most of my friends here at the Pause Button are. I didnít grow up with the friendly faces of Nintendo or Sega and missed out on playing most of the classic games that so many have come to revere over the years. In fact, my first console was the original Playstation, purchased back in the late 90s. And the first games I ever played were X-Men vs. Street Fighter and an entry in the Mortal Kombat series, which I played with my brother. I wasnít very good at them so I purchased a couple of other games that I knew nothing about but that seemed interesting at the time; Final Fantasy VII and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. And I loved both, so much so that they remain on my list of all time favorite games.
Needless to say, I have a tendency to favor games for the Playstation consoles. Some of my favorite games are titles that were available exclusively for the PSX and PS2. And my favorite genres of gaming are Action/Adventure and RPGs, both of which are well represented on Sonyís consoles. In recent years, Iíve branched out with the Wii (Super Mario Galaxy), the DS (the Professor Layton and Castlevania series) and the PSP (Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core and Valkyria Chronicles 2).
Outside of gaming, I spend most of my time juggling a full-time job and college classes, pursuing an undergraduate degree in Economics while working to pay the bills. When Iím not thoroughly overwhelmed by either of those things, I usually spend my free time catching up on sleep, reading, eating out, and daydreaming about life after school.
Like my fellow Pause Button staff member Jeremy, I currently reside in Northern Virginia, just outside the nationís capital.
