It seems that Piranha Games, the developer behind the critically panned Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza, are bringing MechWarrior, well, online!
A mostly inane and completely uninteresting video to promote the game was released. You can take a look below.
There's some info out right now at http://mwomercs.com/, though there's no footage or pictures of gameplay. From the FAQ I gather the gameplay should be fairly standard MechWarrior fare; controlling a big 'mech and blasting stuff.
I've always liked the BattleTech universe, and I still own the MechWarrior 2 and the Ghost Bear expansion pack, as well as MechWarrior 3. I honestly haven't played any of them in years, and I skipped MW 4 because it was developed by Microsoft, but I actually got excited when I heard about MWO, and signed up as soon as I heard about it. I'm looking forward to trying it out.
The game should be out later this year.
