So it's official. In a press release I've been waiting for ever since this game was announced, Guild Wars 2 has been given a release date of Tuesday, August 28th. That's Tuesday, August 28th. Put that date in your diary folks.

Also, there are two more important GW2 dates!

Firstly, this means that if you have pre-purchased, the head start event should start August 25th.

Secondly, the final beta weekend event is currently planned for July 20th-22nd.

Given that this is the first chance I will have had to experience the game, I am insanely stoked for the 20th now. If anyone else is hitting the beta weekend, I'll see you in there.
