Unless youíve been living beneath some type of rock-like structure for the last year, you must have realised that the most anticipated game for a long time, Skyrim, was released last Friday. In the few days since, Iíve spent almost 10 hours in the game and another 5 watching my girlfriend play. So does it live up to the hype?
The answer, based on my early impression, is that yes, it definitely does. Itís brilliant. Actually, thatís not a strong enough word. Skyrimís predecessor, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, was brilliant. Fallout 3 was brilliant. Skyrim takes this brilliance to a whole new level. In the various promotional videos posted on the Internet before the release of the game, Todd Howard, the game's director at Bethesda, had said that the designers had a list of things that they wanted to achieve with this game. So far, it seems they did all of them and then kept going.
